Be Excellent

 

One aspect of our philosophy is the pursuit of excellence and consistency. This is expressed in the maxim: "If you can be better, why settle for mediocrity or average living?"

Being better means being more organized and acting more precisely. Being precise means doing everything well and willingly. For example, why shouldn't a student study to get higher grades instead of just being content with passing average? Why not be an example of excellence in everything you do?

Let's look at another example: why not arrive at work on time and treat people well? And do your job as best you can. By doing this, you will be contributing to a better world, helping many people and making their lives easier. All this will contribute to a happier society.

Now, if you do everything unwillingly and justify yourself by saying that you act this way because you earn little or for any other reason, you are acting wrongly and contributing to this world becoming even worse, more corrupt, and unhappy.

Everyone complains about authorities and politicians doing a bad job, but are we doing the work we've agreed to do well?

If we want to demand excellence from our society, we have to start with ourselves, fulfilling our obligations well. However, it's important not to confuse being better and striving for excellence with arrogance or the desire to be more than other people (superiority complex and narcissism).

We don't do this out of vanity, but because it's the best thing to do every day, because it's one of the meanings of life, and because it brings us closer to the excellence of the Eternal.

Therefore, being a better human being each day is one of our goals and rules of life. We know the difficulties, the tiredness, and how hard this reality is for all of us; however, with a little discipline, a diary or notebook, we can handle all our activities masterfully. The important thing is to take the first step and, when we don't succeed sometimes, not to give up.

It is consistency, the act of trying and persisting in our goals, that determines our actions. We can be better;  Excellence already exists within us. We can improve ourselves each day and become better, more fulfilled human beings, better professionals, and happier, because Eternal Consciousness is already within us and is part of our being.

May the Eternal always bless us and perfect us in all areas of our lives, may His light always shine in our souls, and may His excellence always be constant.
